Collera de Buey

Concrete and moss, 9 elements of 15.5 Ø x 2.5 cm each, 2019

A meander is a curve described by the course of a river, whose sinuosity is pronounced. When, due to erosion, two curved riverbeds meet, the river cuts through the area where the currents oppose each other and a horseshoe or oxbow lake is formed, as sediment closes the inlet and outlet of the former meander and remains outside the riverbed.

Concrete discs with embedded moss form a landscape that establishes a relationship of tension between the two materials.

On April 28, 2018, HidroItuango had been under construction for eight years and was 84% complete, that day the detour tunnel collapsed and generated one of the most serious crises that engineering in Colombia has had to face.

In this video, a person in uniform of epm, the company that owns and is in charge of the construction of the Hidroituango project, walks to stand in front of the project´s dam to release a sphere made of concrete that fractures as it falls to the ground.
